Anne Mitaru

Global Head of Programmes

As Global Head of Programmes, Anne leads the programmes team in ensuring effective design, management and delivery of programmes, and partnerships implementation. 

 

Anne is an International Human Rights & Humanitarian Lawyer and Policy Professional with extensive experience in the areas of human rights; women’s rights; humanitarian action in armed conflict and slow onset emergencies; and post conflict recovery, reconstruction and stabilisation.  

 

Prior to joining Girl Effect, Anne worked with International Non Governmental Organisations including ActionAid International, Oxfam and Save the Children where she led on governance, armed conflict and humanitarian policy work in Iraq, Syria, Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Nepal and with the African Union.

 

Between 2014 and 2016 Anne was selected by the United Nations to serve as a Global Thematic Team expert on Humanitarian Effectiveness for the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit (WHS). 

 

Anne is a Master of Laws (LL.M.) graduate from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Laws Graduate from the University of Nairobi
